Mexico

Although Mexico is resplendent in the ruins of Mayan temples and settlements, Palenque remains among our favorite.  The setting is richly green and junglely, the ruins well preserved, and the features unique.

The ruins were great, but what probably made our stay there even more memorable was the Thanksgiving Dinner we prepared.  It was complete with a turkey we had bought live from a nearby farm.  Killing and plucking it were awful, but it tasted really good.  We shared Thanksgiving 1975 with our three Canadian friends for whom Thanksgiving had somewhat less significance.
